RECAP: Starting the race from the 22nd position, Jimmie Johnson quickly moved forward in his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS, and cracked the top 10 by Lap 15. He continued to showcase the speed of his No. 48 Chevy SS, moving into the top three by Lap 39. Strategy was the key to success for the No. 48 team, as crew chief Chad Knaus’ early pit stop at Lap 53 allowed Johnson to have fresher tires than the competition. He took the lead on Lap 70. Johnson made his final pit stop at Lap 73 under caution. Johnson continued to race inside the top 10 for the remainder of the race. He finished seventh at the 1.99-mile track.
QUOTING JIMMIE: “We had a great car just hit by the 14 and at that point my steering was off from there. We had a great Lowe’s Chevy and the guys with fresher tires got us at the end. Good effort by all though this weekend.”
