This weekend, Team Lowe's Racing will be unveiling a special patriotic paint scheme that will run on the Lowe’s Chevrolet at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race and the Memorial Day weekend event in May. The car will be revealed at the Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration at Charlotte Motor Speedway Saturday, March 31. Prior to the unveiling, event attendees will have the opportunity to sign their names and write a message on the car cover, which will be sent to a unit currently serving in Afghanistan.
Fans near the Charlotte area are encouraged to attend the event and enjoy the other festivities taking place throughout the day. Activities include live entertainment from Charlie Daniels and George Clinton, US Military entertainment from the 82nd Airborne Chorus, various historical military displays and live military demonstrations. The event will get underway at 9:00 AM and will last until 4:30 PM. For a complete schedule of events, visit http://charlottemotorspeedway.com/welcomehome .
Lowe’s has a long history of supporting the military. In fact, it was founded on the heels of World War II by military veteran Carl Buchan, whose leadership helped Lowe's grow from a small hardware store in Wilkesboro, N.C., into the Fortune 50 company it is today.
Currently, more than 14,000 veterans are Lowe’s employees. These range from store employees, to managers, to customer support center employees in our North Carolina offices. Lowe's also offers a 10 percent discount every day to all active, reserve, retired and disabled veterans who carry a valid, military-issued ID card.
We hope to see some fans at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but if you can’t make it be sure to follow @LowesRacing on Twitter for live updates throughout the event.
